This past Sunday, we attended a wedding expo at the Aladdin Shrine Center in Easton. We've already planned quite a bit of the wedding, but there are still some parts that need to be taken care of. Such as choosing a florist and reception music.

After speaking with a couple DJs and only receiving facial contortions when asking for a demo tape of them speaking/working, we were encouraged by another reception music possibility that isn't a DJ. A group from Fermata music impressed us as they played live at the expo. We have a phone consultation next Tuesday to go over details that hopefully we help us make a decision.

Also, we won a drawing for a free dinner and some free play time at GameWorks AND we were presented with a coupon for one free admission to the expo while we waited in line (which saved us $8).

I have been really busy this week trying to get as much done on the wedding as possible. I have finished all of my Save the Date cards finally. I really like the finished product! They are magnets, so don't forget to hang them on your fridge when you get yours!

Yesterday's cake tasting was interesting... the lady we had scheduled with actually forgot that we were coming. So apprently when we showed up outside her doublewide trailor her husband had to run and put his pants on. She thawed out some frozen cupcakes for us to taste which were not nearly as good as the 2 full cakes we had tasted at the Dublin C ake Cottage. Today I went ahead and called Ann Zanon from the Dublin Cake Cottage to tell her that we would like her to do the cake. Both she and I are very excited about the design I came up with for the cake... three square layers, the first in a fondant icing in a quilted design, the next in buttercream icing with little polkadots and the top layer will be plain, smooth fondant icing with a sugar ribbon around it 'tied' in a bow. I think we will be plain when it comes to flavors of the cake: chocolate and white with delcious filling: chocolate ganache and creme brulee.

I also signed the contact with Fairfield Inn on Olentangy River Rd today. I have 5 rooms blocked for 7/7 and 10 blocked for 7/8. So anyone who needs a room can just call and ask for the Blue/Strader wedding block and you will receive the 89$/night rate on a room with either one king sized bed or two double beds.

Lastly, I've been working on making dinner reservations for the rehersal dinner at Martini's. They have not gotten back to me yet, but I hope they do! Martini's has the best food in Cbus and it's my favorite restaurant. We went there the night we got engaged so it is appropriate we go again the night of rehersal.

Photographer Chosen!
We've decided to go with Red Gallery Photography for our wedding. Our trip out there didn't really give us much more information, though. We met the photographers face to face, talked a little about the wheres, whens, and hows, and looked at pictures we've already looked at on the web site (which are impressive - you should check out their web site on the link in our last post). Now we've just got to tackle this contract with them (that has some confusing questions surprisingly), write a check, and then our photographer will be set.

There's another choice to be made though, because the photographer includes engagement photos in the package. We already have some nice engagement photos (which will be up on our web site soon - we'll announces when the site's ready to go), so we aren't sure if we want to get some more with them or not.

Cake tasting is undeniably one of the best perks of wedding planning! Tonight we've got our last one. The last place we went gave us a lot of cake! We got two cakes that were maybe eight inches in diameter that we tasted from, then got to bring home the rest! It was really really good cake. We're looking forward to seeing if this other cake place can match them. Really though, we're more concerned with how the cake looks rather than its taste. Cake is just good - we're not worried about people spitting their cake out in their napkins because it's nasty. Even any old Kroger cake wouldn't warrant that.

Well, we've been planning this wedding for awhile already and it's not easy stuff! Just making the invitation list with addresses is very time consuming. So... one day, maybe, if I get busy finishing that list, you will perhaps, maybe, eventually, receive your Save the Date cards! So look out for them. The date will be July 8, 2006 bc this is the date the least amount of people protested.

Adam and I have done one delicious cake tasting and will do another this Wednesday then we will make our final decisions and have that aspect all taken care of. Tonight is our meeting with the people we think will be our photographers -
